Facebook announced a new app for TVs, so users of the social network can watch videos also on a smart TV. The Facebook video app for TV will roll out soon to app stores for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV, with more platforms to come, the company said.
The app offers a selection of videos shared by friends or from pages the user follows, as well as recommendations and top-watched videos from around the world. Users can also save videos for watching later. Last year Facebook already added a function to its mobile app to allow users to stream a video to the TV.
Other new video features announced by Facebook include automatic sound when playing a video on a mobile device, 'watch and scroll' to minimize a video playing so you can also scroll through the news feed at the same time, and expanded availability on iOS and Android of vertical videos.
