KPN Belgium signs VDSL wholesale deal with Belgacom
KPN Belgium has signed a five-year agreement to develop VDSL2 services using Belgacom's network. Belgacom announced the wholesale contract for fixed broadband and related services. KPN will announce later the retail offering and branding for the services. It's not clear whether the offering will also include TV. New regulations require Belgacom to offer resale of its TV services, but the operator is fighting this in court. KPN is active in the Belgian mobile market through the operator Base, but the company sold its enterprise and wholesale activities on the fixed market to Mobistar in 2010. Its main rivals in the Belgian market, Mobistar, Belgacom and Telenet, already offer bundled fixed and mobile services to consumers.

Base loses 286,000 customers in Q4

Belgian mobile operator Base lost another 286,000 customers in the fourth quarter, amid a continued clean-up of inactivity. Of the 3.424 million customers at year-end, 85 percent were considered active. Base's parent KPN said the clean-up in Q4 included 334,000 inactive Sims at MVNO Ortel. Wholesale TV market struggles to take off in Belgium

The resale of TV services has yet to get going in Belgium, according to a report from Datanews. Belgacom and the major cable operators are both required to resell their TV services to other providers. The cable operators have already published a reference offer, and Belgacom is expected to do so in April or May. KPN Belgium developing bargain TV, internet services

KPN Group Belgium wants to position itself as a bargain provider in the market for digital TV and broadband internet, Jos Donvil told De Tijd. KPN Belgium en Belgacom hebben een vijfjarig contract getekend voor VDSL2, meldt Belgacom.
