KPN sells Simyo France to Bouygues
Dutch operator KPN has agreed to sell its unit KPN France to Bouygues Telecom. The companies expect the deal to close before year-end; no financial details were disclosed. KPN France operates the Simyo low-cost mobile service in France. The around 180,000 customers at Simyo should not see any change in services, the company said. KPN will remain active in the French market with Ortel Mobile, which targets immigrants. The Dutch operator has previously said Ortel will be the main focus for its international expansion.

Bouygues switches B&You prepaid users to Simyo brand

Bouygues Telecom has announced that its B&You prepaid card users will be switched to its MVNO Simyo from 27 August. B&You will focus on its contract-free subscriptions instead. B&You's prepaid customers will still be able to top up their credit over the phone and at over 50,000 points of sale across the country. OBB to merge into Bouygues Telecom, Simyo brand maintained

OBB Telecom, formerly KPN France, will merge into Bouygues Telecom in July. Bouygues Telecom acquired KPN France at the end of last year, and the French operator recently informed customers of the legal merger of the companies. Bouygues will maintain the Simyo prepaid service as a Bouygues Telecom product line, with strictly no change for customers. Simyo France introduces new prepaid tariffs, phone packs

French prepaid MVNO Simyo, bought by Bouygues Telecom from KPN last December, has announced new tariffs, starting at EUR 0.99 for Sim-only with 30 minutes of calls included and free postage. Simyo is also selling a Sim card and feature phone pack starting at EUR 15.89. The phone range includes the Alcatel OT109, OT255 and OT355, Samsung E1050 and E1150, Nokia 101, C1-01 and Doro 505. Top-ups of all denominations are valid for 3 months. A EUR 10 top-up gives users 100 minutes of calls.

Simyo France to cut prices on 24 February - report

French MVNO Simyo, acquired by Bouygues Telecom from KPN at the end of 2011, will cut its prices on 24 February, Les Mobiles reports. Prepaid customers will pay EUR 0.10 a minute for national calls, down from EUR 0.19. National SMS will cost EUR 0.05, compared to EUR 0.10. Mobile internet access will come down to EUR 0.20 per MB, versus EUR 1 per MB previously. The MVNO will stop offering on-net bonuses. Other tariffs will not change, nor the denominations and validity periods for top-ups.

KPN has seen a wave of bad news since the departure of Ad Scheepbouwer and arrival of new CEO Eelco Blok in April 2011. The resignation of the Dutch operator's CFO and the disputed government contract OT010 are the latest headaches, while the company's Q4 results are just around the corner.

KPN made EUR 20 mln from Simyo France sale - analysts

KPN sold Simyo France to Bouygues Telecom for EUR 20 million, analysts from SNS Securities said. KPN disclosed no financial details over the transaction. SNS noted that KPN's total mobile operations, minus the Benelux and Germany, brings in around EUR 200 million per year.
