Microsoft plans new round of job cuts - report

Microsoft plans to announce a new round of job cuts as early as 08 July, the New York Times reports. These are in addition to the 18,000 employees that Microsoft said it planned to let go a year ago, people briefed on the plans said. The new job cuts are expected to affect people in Microsoft's hardware group, including the mobile phone business it acquired from Nokia. At the end of March, Microsoft had more than 118,000 employees worldwide. A Microsoft spokesman declined to comment.
