Microsoft unveils new family of Xbox One devices

Microsoft has unveiled a new family of Xbox One devices, new Xbox Live features and the biggest lineup of games in Xbox history. The announcement was made at the Xbox E3 2016 Briefing. Xbox also said it is working to bring Xbox Live to all devices and networks, from PCs and consoles to virtual reality and mobile. The newly released Xbox Play Anywhere programme lets gamers buy a game once and play it on both their Windows 10 PC and Xbox One console. Every new Microsoft Studios title shown at the Xbox E3 2016 Briefing will support Xbox Play Anywhere, with more titles on the way.

The new line-up of Xbox One hardware and accessories comprises the Xbox One S, the 'Project Scorpio' console which will be launched in 2017, a new Xbox Wireless Controller, a Xbox Design Lab through which players can design their own Xbox wireless controllers, and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – 'Gears of War 4' Limited Edition.

Available in "robot white", the Xbox One S is available for pre-order and will be in stores from August. It will be available in three versions, namely 500 GB, 1TB version and the Limited launch edition 2TB, at prices ranging from EUR/USD 299 (GBP 249) and USD/EUR 399 (GBP 349). The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – 'Gears of War 4' Limited Edition is available in very limited quantities in early October for USD/EUR 199.99 and GBP 159.99 with pre-orders starting the week of 13 June at selected retailers.

All devices will play current and future Xbox One games as well as titles in the Xbox One Backward Compatibility programme, and all accessories will work across every console in the Xbox One family as well.

New features were also presented, namely 'Clubs on Xbox Live,' 'Looking for Group on Xbox Live,' 'Arena on Xbox Live,' 'Cross-play,' 'Cortana on Xbox One,' 'PC games (Win32) in Xbox Live,' and 'Language Region Independence.' Among the 18 newly launched games are 'Final fantasy XV” (Square Enix),' 'Halo wars 2' (Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive),'and 'Minecraft' (Realms and add-ons).
