Moody's downgrades Telecom Italia outlook to negative, affirms rating
Ratings agency Moody’s has downgraded Telecom Italia's outlook from stable to negative while affirming its ‘BA1’ rating. In a statement, Moody’s said the change in outlook to negative reflected its expectation that the operator will continue to operate in a very competitive environment and with sustained high leverage in spite of a strong commitment to reduce debt. Moody’s predicted that the company’s net debt/EBITDA will remain close to 4.0x in 2019 and above 3.5x in 2020, adding that debt-reduction measures may not be enough to bring leverage below the 3.5x threshold for the rating category until at least 2021.

However, the ratings company said it did expect gradual improvements in the company's operating performance as revenue trends could start improving in 2020. Above all, current discussions to potentially merge Telecom Italia's fixed network with Open Fiber, the announced network sharing agreement with Vodafone Italia and other possible measures to improve the company’s credit strength are described as "positive" by Moody's, reflecting the management's determination and execution capabilities.

TIM-controlled single fibre network a 'backward step' - Cardani

The potential merger of the fixed fibre networks of Telecom Italia (TIM) and Open Fiber into a single  entity controlled by the former would be a "backward step", according to the head of Italian communications watchdog Agcom. TIM sells media unit Persidera to F2i for EUR 240 mln

Telecom Italia (TIM) and publisher Gedi Gruppo Editoriale have announced a binding agreement to sell their stakes in broadcasting unit Persidera to Italian infrastructure fund F2i and EI Towers for a total of EUR 240 million. The deal to divest TIM's 70 percent stake and Gedi's 30 percent holding in the former Telecom Italia Media Broadcasting company remains subject to approval and involves the demerger of Persidera into two separate entities. It's expected to close in the final quarter of 2019.

TIM exploring new consumer finance JV

Telecom Italia (TIM) is exploring the possibility of setting up a joint venture with an Italian bank to offer consumer credit services to its customers, reports Reuters, citing TIM CEO Luigi Gubitosi. TIM tops Ookla mobile speed ranking in Q4 with 34 Mbps

The mobile network of TIM (Telecom Italia) offered the fastest speeds in Italy in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to the latest Ookla report. Telecom Italia revenues down 2.5% in Q4, launches new 3-year business plan

Telecom Italia (TIM) posted a 2.5 percent year-on-year fall in organic revenues to EUR 4.8 billion in the fourth quarter, with continuing recovery at its TIM Brasil unit offset by a drop of EUR 168 million (-4.2% year on year) at its domestic unit. Vodafone Italia, TIM reach 5G network sharing deal, may combine towers into single unit

Vodafone Italia and TIM (Telecom Italia) have signed a memorandum of understanding to share the cost of rolling out new 5G infrastructure throughout Italy.
