Nawras signs partnership deal with WhatsApp
Oman operator Nawras has inked a partnership deal with mobile messaging service WhatsApp. The exclusive marketing agreement gives Nawras the opportunity to introduce new services based on the popular messaging platform. WhatsApp is already used by more than one million customers in Oman. Nawras will offer a weekly WhatsApp data plan, including 50 MB of data to use WhatsApp as well as 50 SMS for OMR 0.50. Nawras said it also plans new smartphone plans with increased data allowances for WhatsApp.

Oma operator Nawras registered a 22.1 percent drop in its net profit for 2012 to OMR 37 million, hurt by lower EBITDA and higher depreciation. Nawras offers daily prepaid rewards

Oman operator Nawras launched a daily promotion called Mousbak More for prepaid mobile customers. After spending OMR 0.500 on calls, messages or prepaid mobile data, customers can choose one of three rewards, to use for the rest of the same day. The rewards are international off-peak rates, national off-peak rates or free WhatsApp data. WhatsApp starts operator partnerships

Hong Kong mobile operator 3 has introduced a new data bundle, the WhatsApp Roaming Pass. This gives the user unlimited access to WhatsApp, whether they have a data plan or not. Use in Hong Kong alone costs HKD 8 per month (EUR 0.80). International use, on 93 networks in 78 markets, costs HKD 48 per month (EUR 4.80).

Mobily launches WhatsApp package

Saudi operator Mobily has introduced subscriptions to use the WhatsApp messaging application. The cooperation agreement with WhatsApp gives Mobily an exclusive on WhatsApp packages in the country, the company said. Postpaid and prepaid customers without an existing data plan can subscribe to a monthly package for WhatsApp access for SAR 20 or a weekly package for SAR 10. Customers already on a data plan can subscribe to unlimited WhatsApp access for SAR 15 per month.

3 Hong Kong launches WhatsApp data pack, roaming pass

3 Hong Kong, the mobile telecommunications division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong, has tied up with WhatsApp, the instant messaging application developer. Under the theme banner "Free the World" the two companies will launch a WhatsApp local data pack and roaming pass. From 18 September, customers will be able to buy the WhatsApp Data Pack for HKD 8 per month while the WhatsApp Roaming Pass is priced at HKD 48 per day. The roaming pass includes 5 MB of roaming data usage.
