Proximus hires CFO from UPC, TDC exec to take new Chief Digital & IT Officer role

Belgian operator Proximus has hired Mark Reid, the CFO of Liberty Global's unit UPC, as its new CFO. The company also named TDC executive Antonietta Mastroianni to the new position of Chief Digital & IT Officer. Both will join the company in Q2 2021 and sit on the executive committee. 

The former CFO Sandrine Dufour left the company last June and Katleen Vandeweyer will continue as interim CFO until Reid joins in May next year. He is expected to help improve Proximus's international investor profile and support its growth targets, after previously working at Virgin Media, Yahoo and eBookers in top finance roles. 

Mastroianni comes from Danish operator TDC where she serves as group CIO. Before that she spent ten years at Swiss operator Sunrise and also worked for Swisscom and 3 Group. The Italian executive will join Proximus in April 2021 in a new position created at the company, leading the IT transformation and simplification of the group.

Proximus is losing another top executive, with CFO Mark Reid announcing plans to step down at the end of January 2026 to take a new job in the UK. He will become CFO at outsourcing group Serco from next March. Reid joined the Belgian operator in May 2021, after working previously at Liberty Global. Nicolas Gaertner, deputy CFO, will take over as interim CFO from mid-January until a permanent successor is named.

Antonietta Mastroianni is leaving Proximus at the end of November, ending her role as Digital & IT Lead. She is taking up a new international CIO job in 2026, outside the Belgian operator. Mastroianni joined Proximus in April 2021 to help guide its digital transformation, working on cloud, data, cybersecurity and AI applications, and last year won the 'CIO of the Year' award in Belgium. Jeroen Verbruggen, currently senior manager at the department, will serve as acting Digital & IT Lead from November.

Proximus underlying revenues fall 4% in Q4, aims for stable result in 2021

Proximus reported underlying domestic revenues of EUR 1.089 billion in Q4, down 4 percent from a year earlier due to the negative effects of the coronavirus crisis. This includes lower handset and ICT sales and reduced inbound roaming traffic.

Proximus announced that its CFO Sandrine Dufour will leave the company from 01 June, to take the job of CFO at Belgian pharmaceuticals company UCB. No successor has been named yet.

Proximus names Vandeweyer interim CFO

Proximus named Katleen Vandeweyer its new interim CFO from 23 September. Vandeweyer will take over the duties of former CFO Sandrine Dufour, who after the departure of Dominique Leroy at the beginning of September assumed the role of interim CEO. Vandeweyer is now also a member of the management committee.

TDC names 3 new executives

Danish operator TDC said it has made three new appointments. It has named Antonietta Mastroianni as senior vice president for IT development. She joins TDC from Swiss operator Sunrise, where she was responsible for IT business continuity and development. The Italian will join TDC in August at the latest.

UPC takes new CFO from Virgin Media

Mark Reid, currently CFO of Virgin Media in the UK, will become CFO at European cable operator UPC from September. Virgin and UPC are both subsidiaries of Liberty Global. UPC has operations in Austria and Switzerland, as well as Central & Eastern Europe.
