
Tele2 acquires BBned from Telecom Italia for EUR 50 mln

Tele2 has acquired Dutch fixed network operator BBned from Telecom Italia for SEK 475 million (EUR 50.3 million) in cash. BBned is a wholesale operator mainly for xDSL services and also active on the business market (BBeyond) and consumer market (Alice/InterNLnet). The Dutch competition authority has approve the transaction. During 2009, BBned recorded revenues of SEK 810 million (EUR 86 million) and an EBITDA of SEK 130 million (EUR 14 million). Telecom Italia put its European Broadband division, including BBned and German fixed network operator Hansenet, up for sale in 2008. Hansenet was sold to Telefonica in 2009. BBned recently sold its stake in Dutch FTTH service provider XMS to Dutch FTTH operator Reggefiber. The proceeds from the transaction are line with Telecompaper's expectations and Tele2 was on the short list of possible buyers.
