UPC NL launches mobile internet for busines users
Liberty Global subsidiary and cable network operator UPC Netherlands has launched mobile internet services for small business customers. The mobile internet services can be used for laptops or tablets and offer download speeds up to 14.4 Mbps using the network of Vodafone Netherlands. The operator expects to launch mobile internet for consumers before the end of this year as well. The service is called UPC Zakelijk Mobiel Internet (UPC Business Mobile Internet) and is available with 200 MB for EUR 10 per month, 500 MB for EUR 15 per month, 2 GB for EUR 22 per month and 5 GB for EUR 35 per month. The service is only available in combination with UPC's Alles-in-1 Zakelijk (All-in-one Business) and Zakelijk Fiber Power (Business Fiber Power) subscriptions. All subscription costs will be billed on one bill; all prices exclude VAT. UPC previously operated a MVNO in the Netherlands but halted the service in 2009 due to limited take-up. In April 2010 it won rights to 2.6GHz band spectrum in the Netherlands in a joint bid with cable operator Ziggo. The companies expect to offer mobile data services but have yet to unveil their roll-out plans.
