Vodafone NL introduces OTT service TV Anywhere

Vodafone Netherlands has launched an OTT TV service called TV Anywhere. For EUR 4.95 per month, users can watch TV via mobile phone or tablet, even if they do not have a fixed subscription.

Vodafone NL customers will be able to watch TV anywhere in the Netherlands via the TV Anywhere App, available for both iOS and Android. The app will only be available for Vodafone NL customers. Both Vodafone Thuis (Home) and mobile subscribers will be able to access the new service.

TV Anywhere for mobile subscribers

Vodafone NL customers with only a mobile subscription will make use of the service via Wi-Fi networks and Vodafone 3G/4G. Data for 3G/4G will be taken out of the customer’s bundle. TV Anywhere is directly available for all Vodafone Red and Vodafone Smart subscribers and can be activated via the My Vodafone App. For these subscribers, the service will cost EUR 4.95 per month, with the first month free. Vodafone NL customers will receive a SMS alert when they are near their data limit. Customers can also manage data via the My Vodafone App.

TV Anywhere will replace the current Live TV portal available for Vodafone Mobile subscribers, and the TV app for Vodafone Thuis customers. Mobile customers will be able to view 12 channels, namely the NPO channels, RTL channels, SBS channels and XITE.

TV Anywhere for Vodafone Thuis

For Vodafone Thuis customers, TV Anywhere can be viewed via all 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks in the Netherlands. Data will be taken out of the bundle for 3G and 4G. For Thuis customers, TV Anywhere will be free.

Vodafone Thuis subscribers will get access to 17 channels outside the home and 22 channels at home, including 24 Kitchen, National Geographic, TLC, Discovery, Animal Planet, Investigation, Eurosport, MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon.

Functions

TV Anywhere includes a Twitter feature that customers can use to see what programme is trending and social media exchanges during the programme. Users can use the app to like and share, even sharing specific programme moments. There is also an integrated pause button for pausing TV programmes.
