NENT acquires Dutch rights to PDC darts from 2022

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) has acquired the exclusive rights to broadcast live darts events from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) in the Netherlands on its Viaplaystreaming service from 2022. The Scandinavian company earlier acquired the rights to Formula 1 and the German Bundesliga. Viaplay will be launched in the Netherlands in the first quarter of next year.

Viaplay has signed a five-year agreement with Matchroom Sport, the company behind the darts association. The PDC hosts many of the biggest darts tournaments, including the World Darts Championship, Premier League Darts, World Cup of Darts, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, European Championship, Grand Slam of Darts and the Players Championship, in addition to the World Series of Darts Finals. NENT Group and PDC are also going to work together to set up a live darts event in the Netherlands. More about this will be announced soon.

The deal with Matchroom Sports also brings live coverage of snooker's Champion of Champions and Championship League events for Viaplay in the Netherlands, along with the World Pool Masters, World Pool Championship, World Cup of Pool, US Open Championship and the Mosconi Cup. In addition, the deal will also bring an extensive range of sports content, including table tennis, bowling, basketball and netball.

Viaplay to exclusively show Dutch edition of Dragon's Den

Viaplay said the Dragon's Den show will be its first Dutch local production, on an exclusive basis. The format is produced in over 40 countries and will now launch in the Netherlands during the spring. Viaplay will come to the country on 1 March with a combination of local and original productions, international films and series, kids content and premium live sports.

Dutch public broadcaster NOS acquires sublicense to show local F1 Grand Prix

Dutch public broadcaster NOS has signed an agreement with Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) to broadcast the Zandvoort Grand Prix live for the coming three years. NENT acquired the broadcasting rights for Formula 1 in the Netherlands earlier this year and agreed a sub-license for the Dutch Grand Prix for NOS.

Viaplay announces partners, pricing for March launch in Netherlands

Viaplay, the streaming service of Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) will launch in the Netherlands on 1 March 2022, with premium live sports, Viaplay Originals, Hollywood films and series, and content for children. The single package will cost EUR 13.99 per month and become available as a direct subscription and through distribution partners such as VodafoneZiggo and KPN. The launch will take Viaplay's footprint to 11 countries, with at least five more markets to follow by the end of 2023.

Viaplay to reach Netherlands in March

Viaplay, the streaming service of Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) will launch in the Netherlands in March, a spokesperson confirmed to Telecompaper. No details are yet know about what kind of subscriptions will be available or at what price. More information should come out during the press conference scheduled for 8 December.

Delta in talks with NENT on F1 distribution

Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT) is in talks to distribute Formula 1 coverage with Dutch pay-TV providers. Delta Fiber, which owns the providers Delta and Caiway, told GoStreaming that it was in contact with NENT on adding F1 to its offering. The sports marketing specialist Chris Woerts said earlier in the programme Veronica Inside that the two largest pay-TV providers, Ziggo and KPN are also talking to NENT.

Viaplay, the streaming service of Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT), should be "very affordable" in the Netherlands, Viaplay programme head Filippa Wallestam told Algemeen Dagblad. The streaming service charges a relatively high price in Scandinavia, at EUR 32 per month in Norway for example, but should be cheaper in the Netherlands.

RTL has announced plans to merge its Dutch business with Talpa Network. If the deal is approved by regulators, RTL will retain a 70 percent stake and John de Mol 30 percent in the combined group. Talpa's production business is excluded, but the new company will have a very large share of the broadcast advertising market if the merger is successful. The main aim of the merger is to accelerate the growth of Videoland and strengthen the group's position on the direct-to-consumer streaming market.
