NSN, Motorola takeover delayed to Q1
Nokia Siemens Networks expects to close its acquisition of Motorola's mobile networks business in the first quarter of 2011. While the company originally expected the deal to close by year-end, it has yet to receive regulatory clearance in China. All other necessary regulatory clearances have been obtained. Approximately 7,500 employees are expected to transfer to Nokia Siemens Networks from Motorola's network infrastructure business when the transaction closes, including large research and development sites in the US, China and India.

Nokia Siemens Networks is set to complete its acquisition of Motorola's network infrastructure business next week after China's antitrust regulator approved the deal. Motorola sees NSN deal closing in Q2

Motorola expects to close the sale of its networks business to Nokia Siemens Networks in the second quarter. "We are still targeting Q2 and candidly there is not much more to say about it," CEO Greg Brown told the Financial Times. The sale was delayed twice already due to extended investigation by Chinese regulatory authorities. Brown said he did not know why they were taking longer to clear the acquisition and had not been in recent contact. The takeover was first announced in July last year.
