Omzet Inmarsat in Q1 gestuwd door Aviation, Government
Satellietbedrijf Inmarsat heeft over het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar 332,2 miljoen dollar, een stijging van 11,3 procent op jaarbasis. De hoogste groei werd gemeten in het segment Aviation waard de omzet met bijna 42 procent toenam tot 44,2 miljoen dollar. Ook het segment Government liet een omzetstijging zien, met ruim een kwart naar 86 miljoen dollar. Het gros van de omzet in Q1 werd gegenereerd door Maritime, waar de omzet met 2,8 procent daalde naar 139,1 miljoen dollar. De ebitda steeg met 9,2 procent naar 181,5 miljoen dollar.

Thales Alenia bouwt V-HTS satelliet voor Inmarsat

Thales Alenia Space gaat nog een Global Xpress (GX) breedband-communicatiesatelliet bouwen voor Inmarsat nadat het satellietbedrijf een contract in de wacht sleepte ter waarde van 130 miljoen dollar. De lancering van de nieuwe satelliet, een Very High Throughput Satellite (V-HTS), staat gepland voor 2019. V-HTS zal capaciteit bieden in het Midden-Oosten, Europa en India. De launch provider wordt binnenkort bekend gemaakt.

Lufthansa commercially launches inflight broadband

Lufthansa Group has commercially launched an inflight broadband service based on satellite services provider Inmarsat's GX Aviation solution. T-Mobile completes EAN network over NL, North Sea

T-Mobile said it has completed the technical infrastructure for the ground network that will serve the airspace over the Netherlands and the North Sea. The European Aviation Network (EAN) will be launched in the largest Western European countries late this year or early next year. T-Mobile is working on the project through parent company Deutsche Telekom, together with UK satellite operator Inmarsat.

Inmarsat to provide broadband in Russia

Inmarsat expects to obtain by the end of this year the necessary permits from the Russian state radio frequencies commission SRFC for providing broadband services in Russia, reports Comnews.ru. The operator plans to provide its satellite broadband services under the Global Xpress brand, using the Ka band.

Inmarsat bouwt Wi-Fi in meer dan 1.000 vliegtuigen

Inmarsat meldt dat het nu meer dan duizend vliegtuigen heeft voorzien van Wi-Fi of daarvoor een bestelling heeft genoteerd. Het bedrijf maakte het getal bekend tijdens een evenement op de vakbeurs Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg op 4 april. GX Aviation van Inmarsat en European Aviation Network (EAN) leveren breedbanddiensten via satelliet. Klanten zijn onder meer Lufthansa Group, International Airlines Group (IAG), Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Norwegian Air en Air Asia.

Inmarsat's inflight Wi-Fi passes 1,000 aircraft milestone

Inmarsat's GX Aviation and European Aviation Network (EAN) inflight broadband services passed the 1,000 aircraft milestone. The amount refers to signed contracts, both installed and as a backlog. The milestone was celebrated during an evening reception with airline customers, partners and the media at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany on 4 April.

AirAsia picks Inmarsat's GX Aviation in-flight broadband

Malaysian airline AirAsia entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Inmarsat to install GX Aviation across the group's Airbus A320 and A330 fleets. Subject to final agreement and contract, AirAsia intends to commence installation of GX Aviation avionics in 2017 and actually launch the service in 2018. AirAsia is a long-term Inmarsat customer and already deployed Inmarsat's SwiftBroadband platform.

Fleet Management picks Inmarsat's Fleet Xpress

Inmarsat's maritime connectivity service Fleet Xpress was selected by Hong Kong-based Fleet Management (FML). FML upgraded all vessels previously equipped with Inmarsat's XpressLink Ku-band service to Fleet Xpress. Also, Fleet Xpress will be rolled-out to the majority of its fleet globally by 2018. The service will use a Cobham 1m GX antenna for Ka-band connectivity combined with a FleetBroadband terminal for L-band back-up.

Globalstar, Inmarsat gaan diensten wederverkopen

Inmarsat raises dividend, cautious on sales growth

Inmarsat announced a 5 percent increase in its dividend for 2016, after reporting an increase in underlying results. Revenues rose 4.3 percent to USD 1.329 billion in 2016, helped by growth in the government and aviation sectors, its new agreement with Ligado Networks and the first revenues from its GX services. Globalsat named Inmarsat enterprise distribution partner

Globalsat, a provider of mobile satellite services in the Americas, was appointed as an 'Enterprise distribution partner' to mobile satellite operator Inmarsat Global. The new status will give the company earlier hands-on access to upcoming products, direct hotlines to operations personnel for faster customer support and a higher level of products customisation. Globalsat said it's the only distribution partner with local affiliated companies in nine countries in the Western Hemisphere.

Inmarsat, Actility leveren IoT-diensten over LoRaWAN

Inmarsat heeft aangekondigd dat zijn LoRa-netwerk, ontwikkeld in samenwerking met Actility, momenteel actief is en connectiviteit biedt voor diverse applicaties. Beide bedrijven meldden de bouw van het netwerk een jaar geleden. Enkele applicaties die door het netwerk worden gefaciliteerd zijn asset tracking en remote monitoring. Bij het netwerk wordt gebruikt gemaakt van Inmarsat's global L band satelliet en Actility's ThingPark Internet of Things management tool.
