Swisscom to discontinue SmartLife
Swisscom will withdraw its SmartLife security product from the market as of 31 January 2017. In an announcement on Facebook, the SmartLife team wrote that the product has “not had the market success we anticipated.” SmartLife promised monetary compensation for “components purchased and the inconvenience caused” and told customers it would “do its utmost” to ensure they were not financially disadvantaged. 

The system, first launched in April 2015, offered burglar protection and security monitoring via smartphone. It was brought in to replace the struggling Quing system, which reached only 1,000 users.

Swisscom spokesperson Armin Schaedeli confirmed to CE Today that the company remained committed to security, and would continue to offer its emergency notification service Swisscom Smart Life Care and energy product Tiko Power.

Swisscom, which operates M-Budget Mobile, has chosen Matrixx to provide a new mobile self-service portal where customers can purchase add-ons, add roaming, monitor consumption, and change account options. Swisscom stopt met deel SmartLife-aanbod

Swisscom stopt met het aanbieden van security-producten in zijn SmartLife-aanbod. Swisscom revenue flat in Q3, EBITDA improves

Third quarter results for Swisscom show only a slight change in revenue compared with the same quarter last year. In Q3 2016, Swisscom reported net revenue of CHF 2.34 billion, representing a 1.5 percent decrease over Q3 2015. When all revenue of the larger Swisscom group is considered, including Fastweb, revenue for the quarter came to CHF 2.87 billion. This figure is just 0.7 percent below the results of Q3 2015, which came to CHF 2.89 billion.

Swisscom deploys G.fast technology for FTTS upgrades

Swisscom has started to deploy G.fast technology in its network from September of this year, following more than four years of testing with its technology partner Huawei.
