Swisscom has announced a number of new customer offers, including a hybrid fixed-mobile internet service, a filter for unwanted marketing calls and a new router supporting faster speeds.
As of 28 November, customers can opt into a free filtering service which blocks marketing calls, as well as anonymous or unidentifiable calls. Customers can also individually select up to 200 numbers to block, up from 50 previously. The free filter can be activated via Swisscom customer service and is available to any Swisscom customer with an IP-based fixed network connection.
Swisscom is also introducing an internet booster to combat slow internet connections, which was developed in-house. The Internet Booster service links customer’s DSL connections to the LTE network, enabling download speeds of 40 Mbps. From the start of 2017, this option will be available free of charge to Vivo S and Vivo M customers in selected areas.
In addition, Swisscom has doubled the internet speed of customers of the Vivo XS and S packages to 20 Mbps and 40Mbps respectively. Customers on the Vivo M and L packages are being offered a six-month trial of 1 Gbps network speeds at no extra cost.
Swisscom has also introduced a new router, the Internet Box 2. The box offers the new Wi-Fi standard 11ac wave 2, seven integrated antennae and G.fast technology, which enables transmission rates of up to 500 Mbps via the copper network. New Vivo S, M, L and XL customers and those with Internet 50 or Internet 250 packages will receive the box free of charge.
