The US National Football League announced a deal to show highlights of its matches on Facebook. The multi-year deal will see NFL Game Recaps and official highlights from all 256 regular season games as well as the playoffs and Super Bowl be available globally on the social network.
The highlights as well as films on players and match analysis from the NFL Media production unit will feature on Facebook's new video platform Watch in the US. Viewers elsewhere in the world can access the content by following the NFL or their favourite NFL team's Facebook page.
The NFL has been expanding its streaming options over the past year, especially as the American football league seeks to grow its fan base abroad. Amazon earlier acquired rights to stream its Thursday night matches, and Twitter also streams part of the coverage.
