Plintron secures favourable decision in arbitration against Surf Telecom

system and CPaaS provider Plintron secured a favourable ruling in the arbitration case initiated by Brazilian operator Surf Telecom. The sole arbitrator rejected all of the claims brought by Surf Telecom, arising from a master services agreement signed with Plintron in 2017. The arbitrator found that Surf Telecom breached the agreement and awarded damages caused by Surf Telecom's breaches.

Fixed-line subscriptions in Botswana went up by 1.4 percent to 136,356 in the fiscal third quarter to December compared with 134,498 in Q2, according to Statistics Botswana (SB). Mobile phone subscriptions increased by 2.8 percent to 4.02 million from 3.91 million. Statistician General Burton Mguni said internet subscriptions increased by 8.1 percent to 2.47 million from 2.29 million, with mobile internet subscriptions rising 8.1 percent to 2.37 million from 2.19 million.

Mozambique operators miss targets for call set-up times

A study by the National Institute of Communications of Mozambique (INCM) revealed that none of the country's mobile operators comply with rules regarding the time for establishing calls, according to O Pais. Although Tmcel, Vodacom and Movitel perform well in terms of voice services (with the exception of some areas), they "rob" customers of 4.27 to 23.98 seconds for 2G calls and 4.27 to 22.27 seconds for setting up 3G calls, the institute said.
