Portuguese operators to distribute 5,000 emergency eSIM cards

Mobile operators in Portugal are partnering with the government to distribute over 5,000 emergency roaming eSIM cards to people in storm-damaged areas who still don't have phone service. This initiative will allow affected individuals to connect to any available network while permanent repairs are underway. The agreement was made during a meeting with the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, and major national operators (Digi, Meo, Nos, and Vodafone), along with the regulator Anacom.

Mobiuz upgrades network in Andijan region

Uzbekistan mobile operator Mobiuz said that it has upgraded 77 existing base stations in the Andijan region in January and February. LTE-800 and LTE-900 services have launched on those base stations, expanding the coverage of the network. A total 35 base stations have been modernised in the city of Andijan, and 42 base stations have been upgraded in other municipalities across the region.

Virgin Media O2 has announced the launch of the Sky Atlantic TV channel on the Virgin TB platform. The channel will be available from 01 April to new and existing Virgin TV 360 and Stream box customers already receiving Sky Entertainment channels, at no extra cost. This follows the announcement that HBO Max will be available through Virgin V 360 and Stream boxes when it launches in the UK in March.

Lesotho's government has earmarked USD 24.07 million for the ICT ministry to advance national connectivity, modernise public digital systems and enhance service delivery through innovative means, ITWeb reported. Norwegian telecoms regulator Nkom says it has been notified of a break in a submarine fibre cable off the coast of Finnmark county in northern Norway on the evening of 21 February. Yondr Group has announced a GBP 532 million ABS financing for its London campus. This marks the group's debut in public capital markets and the first bond issued under its Green Finance Framework. Digi grows customer base, revenues 15% in 2025, EBITDA up 1%

Digi Communications reported revenues up 12 percent year-on-year to EUR 579 million in the fourth quarter of 2025, while adjusted EBITDA rose a slower 5 percent to EUR 150 million on the costs of expansion. MasOrange's Jazztel brand has informed subscribers that the price of its entry-level fibre plan costing under EUR 20 a month is being increased by EUR 2 to EUR 21.95 a month in exchange for higher speeds.
