Last week in telecoms: Vodafone and Viaplay plan investor days, AT&T focuses on direct-to-consumer video

The earnings season is nearing an end, with Bouygues Telecom and Salt among the last to report. Vodafone and the NENT Group are among those planning what should be interesting investor days in September, focusing on respectively digital services and Viaplay. AT&T meanwhile underlined the importance of the direct customer relationship, something telcos understand. It's withdrawing some of its content (CNN, HBO) from traditional sales channels in favour of its own SVOD services (CNN+, HBO Max), while also launching the separate OTT TV service DirecTV Stream.
