Last week in telecoms: VodafoneZiggo leaves AMS-IX, mmWave FWA over 6.5 km and HBO Max, Discovery+ expand

Monday 7 December 2020 | 10:45 CET | Author: Tim Poulus | Background
5G networks continue to launch around the world, including in the mmWave bands. A new technical milestone was reached this week with a mmWave network delivering more than 1 Gbps over a distance of 6.5 km. M&A news included two buy-outs in Beglium, by Orange and RTL, while Discovery+ expanded its footprint on the streaming market and HBO Max got more first-release movies. In network news, Dutch operators moved away from the AMS-IX for peering and new forecasts for FTTH in Europe were released.
