Ziggo upgrade to 1 GHz could cost EUR 1.2 billion

Thursday 18 September 2014 | 13:38 CET | Author: Tim Poulus | Background
Telenet recently announced a major network investment programme. Over five years, the Belgian cable operator will replace all its active network equipment in order to upgrade spectrum use from 600 MHz to 1 GHz. Total cost: EUR 500 million. The listed subsidiary of Liberty Global expects the project to create 250 jobs. Telenet, the same as many other FTTH and HFC operators, wants to be able to offer broadband speeds of 1 Gbps, and this investment is part of that roadmap.
