FTTP dominates cheapest broadband plans in UK - Point Topic

The cheapest UK broadband subscription at the 'small area' level ranged from GBP 12.50 per month (FTTP) to GBP 35.28 per month (FWA) as of January 2026, according to the latest research from Point Topic. The download speeds for these tariffs ranged from 11 Mbps to 2.5 Gbps.

Hyperoptic study shows half of Brits could be overpaying for broadband

New research UK fibre broadband provider Hyperoptic shows that over half (51%) of broadband customers are paying GBP 30+ per month for broadband, with 19 percent paying GBP 40 or more. The research shows that UK broadband customers remain reluctant to switch provider despite being unhappy with pricing and it being easier than ever to switch. Ofcom data shows that 1.6 million people have used the One Touch Switch (OTS) system to switch broadband/landline provider in the last year.

Telus, Photonic demo quantum teleportation over commercial fibre

Canadian telco Telus has partnered with quantum technology company Photonic to develop quantum-secure networking capabilities. The first demonstration of this partnership has successfully completed a quantum teleportation over metropolitan fibre. Nazim Benhadid, Telus Chief Technology Officer, said the demonstration showed the quantum-potential of the Telus fibre network; with Photonic CEO Paul Terry describing the successful quantum teleportation as "groundbreaking".

Gigapower signs network access deal with ISP DoJoNetworks

Gigapower, wholesale full-fibre network JV between AT&T and BlackRock-owned Global Infrastructure Partners, has signed a network access agreement with US ISP DoJoNetworks. The latter becomes the second ISP using the Gigapower platform to provide managed Wi-Fi internet services specifically to multi-family properties. DoJoNetworks will use the network to offer services to multi-family property owners and operators in Gigapower markets.

NBI connects over 6,000 premises across County Limerick

National Broadband Ireland (NBI) said that over 6,000 businesses, homes and farms in County Limerick have now connected to its full-fibre broadband network. The National Broadband Plan (NBP) network is now available to a total of 16,967 premises across the county, with 6,066 connections made to date. A total of 22,000 premises in County Limerick are included in the NBP Intervention Area.

Telefonica Germany has expanded the 5G network to Heiligenhafen, Lauterbach, and Stoeckse. In Heiligenhafen and Lauterbach the company has upgrade the mobile sites to 5G, while Stoeckse it started to operate a new mobile site to provide the community with fasters connections.

CoopVoce debuts entry-level plan for under EUR 4/mth

The MVNO of Italian supermarket chain Coop has launched a new entry-level tariff costing under EUR 4 a month. The CoopVoce Digital Evo plan is available online or in-store for a total of EUR 3.90 a month, with no activation fees for new customers. It comes with unlimited calls and 1,000 SMS plus 20GB of data at 4G speeds of up to 150 Mbps.

Quickline expands fibre roll-out to more East Yorkshire communities

Quickline Communications, UK rural broadband provider, has made full-fibre broadband available to thousands more homes and businesses across the East Riding of Yorkshire. The newly connected communities include Tickton, Catwick, Etton, Cherry Burton, Kilham, Rudston and Langtoft. The roll-out is part of the UK government-funded Project Gigabit programme to connect hard-to-reach communities, with around 2,000 addresses covered.

Deutsche Telekom to provide multi-orbit satellite services for IoT connectivity

Deutsche Telekom hat tested connectivity through geostationary (GEO) and low earth orbit (LEO) satellites to offer IoT connectivity across multiple satellite orbits. The company is using the service of Skylo, which provides coverage in geostationary orbit, and Sateliot and OQ Technology handling radio connectivity to LEO satellites to provide so-called multi-orbit connectivity services connected to its global IoT network (NB-IoT and LTE-M). Radware hails record FY turnover and earnings following Q4 EMEA sales surge

Radware finished 2025 with a record turnover of USD 301.9 million, up 9.8 percent year-on-year as final quarter sales surged in EMEA markets. FY earnings also reached an all-time high, according to company CEO Roy Zisapel, with net profits rising more than threefold to USD 20.3 million.

Orange taps Selectour to accelerate distribution of eSIM offers for travellers

Orange's eSIM plans for international travellers are now available at a preferential rate through Selectour, a travel agency group with over 1,000 points of sale across mainland France and overseas territories. As part of this collaboration, Selectour's physical agency network has been distributing the Orange Travel portfolio since early January. In addition, a co-branded affiliate portal has been created to serve Selectour's customers online.

Peru caps mobile lines at 7 to curb crime

The Peruvian government has decided to cap the number of mobile phone lines each person can hold at seven under a new decree aimed at curbing extortion and other crimes committed through anonymous calls. The measure, established under Legislative Decree No. 1738, seeks to improve citizen security by limiting excessive line ownership that authorities say enables fraud and identity theft.

Armenian operator Ucom has introduced a LAN deployment service for corporate customers, enabling them to work with a single partner to obtain broadband access, but also a modern, stable and secure internal network tailored to their specific business needs. It provides a practical service, starting from site survey and preliminary network design to full deployment and testing of the indoor network.

Megafon shops lift smartphone insurance volumes 75% in H2

The volume of smartphone insurance services grew by 75 percent in July to December of 2025 against January to June, according to data from the joint retail chain of operator Megafon and its subsidiary MVNO Yota. Sales of handsets insurance services are usually higher in the second half of the year because more phones are sold then.

Omantel has launched a platform called Otech to support digital modernisation. Aladdin Abdullah Baitfadhil, Omantel CEO and Otech chairman, said the launch marks a qualitative transformation in the company's development. He said that Otech will introduce the latest technologies and play a pivotal role in enabling the digital economy.

Fritz launches 7362 home gateway with dual fibre, coax functionality

Fritz has launched its Fritz!Box 7632 home gateway, bringing legacy DSL, G.fast and FTTH support into a single unit. Retailing for EUR 269, this device functions as a modem and wireless router in coax DSL or hybrid G.fast connections, or as a router only when linked to a fibre networking terminal (ONT). Fritz!Box 7632 comes equipped with DECT and FXS telephone support, and can also be deployed as a media and smart home server.

Arista FY sales up almost 30% as company targets more of the same in Q1

Arista Networks has reported strong sales in FY 2025 of its AI-enabled data centre networking hardware and services, having achieved a major landmark with shipments to 150 million network ports to date for its "Arista 2.0" offering. The milestone came as Arista Networks reported 28.6 percent revenue growth for the year to around USD 9 billion. FY net profits lifted 23.1 percent to USD 3.51 billion.

Teleste targets steady FY 2026 sales growth and profitability after meeting annual targets in 2025

Teleste has reported full year net turnover of EUR 138.6 million in 2025, up 4.6 percent from 2024 and within its prior EUR 135-150 million guidance range. It is forecasting further sales growth in FY 2026 to EUR 140-160 million with adjusted operating profit predicted at EUR 7-10 million. Much of the profit is expected to fall in the second half of Teleste's fiscal calendar.

Orbith connects Argentina's border posts to hybrid satellite networks

Satellite services provider Orbith has completed the deployment of connectivity infrastructure for Argentina's National Gendarmerie (GNA), providing high-speed internet to remote border units. The project aims to improve operational efficiency and communications in isolated areas where previous connections barely reached 1 Mbps, affecting administrative and field activities.

Telenor Norway blocks over 2 bln online scam attempts in 2025 and warns that AI makes fraud easier

Telenor Norway said that it blocked over 2.1 billion unsafe websites and digital crime attempts in 2025. Attackers constantly change their methods to circumvent advances in security, said Thorbjoern Busch, head of the operator's fraud, crime & abuse department. He warned that AI makes it easier and cheaper to personalise phishing attacks and carry them out on a large scale. AI agents trawl social media, public records and database leaks to build profiles of potential victims, he said.
