Rostelecom outlines growth targets to 2030

Russian national operator Rostelecom has introduced its development strategy for 2026 to 2030 at the Digital Industry for Industrial Russia conference taking place in Nizhny Novgorod. The company targets average annual revenues over RUB 1 trillion during this period. This is based on expected growth in telecom revenues above inflation and an average 15 percent annual increase in its digital revenues. The share of the digital business is expected to reach 40 percent of turnover by 2030.

IPTV maintains its leading position among households in Switzerland as the means to watch TV.  According to the Zattoo TV Streaming Report 2026, 71 percent of households in Switzerland watch television via the internet. By contrast, cable TV has declined from 32 to 30 percent in the past year, and satellite from 10 to 9 percent.

Russian operator MTS announced a strategic partnership agreement with the company VVP Group to cooperate on developing robots and related technologies for industrial and logistics applications. The agreement was signed during the Digital Industry of Industrial Russia expo in Nizhny Novgorod, where the operator also launched its platform MTS AIoT, combining IIoT and AI services. Companies are able to create digital twins of their assets using the platform, which works on cloud infrastructure or the customer'

2G services set to end in Netherlands by 2029

VodafoneZiggo is expected to shut down its 2G network in the Netherlands in 2028 or 2029. That would mean the end of 2G service in the country, as KPN plans to dismantle its GSM network by the end of 2027. The timeline is part of an assessment by the transport ministry on the potential impact on eCall emergency services in cars. It found that there is no need to intervene in the market's plans for shutting down 2G and 3G networks.

Beeline Russia says network AI agent resolves 40% of incidents on its own

Russian operator Beeline said that its AI agent AI-Engineer for managing incidents on network equipment has already processed more than 100,000 inquiries. In 40 percent of cases, the AI agent resolved problems on its own, without involving staff members. The AI agent was implemented by the operator earlier this March. From December 2025 to the end of February this year, the AI agent worked under the testing regime in several regions.

Christian Gebara, CEO of Telefonica Brasil, stated that Brazil's primary challenge in 5G expansion isn't a lack of coverage, but rather the high cost of devices and insufficient "digital literacy" among the population, reported Valor Economico. Orange Poland has started pre-sales of the Motorola Razr and Motorola Fold in its shops. South Africa's pay-as-you-go fibre provider Fibertime aims to connect 1 million homes by mid-2027, ITWeb reported. Alan Knott-Craig Jr, founder of Fibertime, told a recent forum that Fibertime is focused on scaling its network aggressively. It already covers 420,000 homes in thirteen cities and seven provinces. Brazil improves fixed broadband ranking in Speedtest Global Index

Brazil has improved its global standing in fixed broadband speed, reaching 26th place out of 153 countries in the Speedtest Global Index, according to a statement from the communications ministry. In March, the country's average download speed was 221.53 Mbps, more than double the global average of 120.52 Mbps, and notably faster than Mexico (104.25 Mbps) and similarly sized economies like Italy (117.11 Mbps) and Germany (103.72 Mbps).

Czech operator Ceske Radiokomunikace (CRA) announced a tender for a PR and communication agency. The first phase is a request for information, the aim of which is to verify market interest and assess suitable suppliers for a shortlist.
