Investments in data centres totaled around PLN 5 billion in Poland in 2019 to 2025, according to a study from the company PMR.  The current data centre market is powered by AI-ready projects. A typical time for construction of a data centre varies from 18 months to three years in the country, the study found.

Brazil works with online marketplaces to stop unapproved mini phones

Brazil's telecommunications agency Anatel and major marketplaces like Amazon, Shopee and Mercado Livre have agreed to a "zero tolerance" policy against the sale of unapproved "mini" cell phones. These devices are often used to bypass prison surveillance and pose safety risks due to uncertified radiation levels and hazardous batteries. Anatel also plans to introduce a compliance ranking for marketplaces, starting with mobile phones, to inform consumers and encourage safer purchasing.

Orange Poland introduced a promotion to Orange Flex customers, proving the mobile internet service UNLMTD free for two months. The service provides unlimited data at maximum speed within the country. Customers porting a number to the Flex services get any tariff from Orange Flex free for three months, as well as a 10GB data traffic bundle when roaming in the EU.

Aira Technologies revealed it served as the technical lead on a TM Forum Moonshot Catalyst project aimed at catalysing conflict management in intent-driven telecoms workloads. The second-phase project is also supported by partners Amazon Web Services, Ericsson, and Red Hat, and proponents Axiata, Etisalat, LG U+, Rogers, STC, T-Mobile, Telenor, Telstra and Vodafone. The partnership secured the Attendees' Choice nomination for its ability to drive progress towards Level 4 autonomous networks.

Uzbekistan operator Mobiuz is testing fixed broadband services over a fibre network in the city of Andijan. Customers will be able to access services at no extra cost during the testing period, which runs until year-end. They just need to pay a monthly subscription to the Orzu 150 tariff, totaling UZS 150,000.

Dutch public broadcaster NPO is withdrawing its NPO Zapp app designed for children aged 6-12. Instead there is a child profile option available on its main NPO Start platform, where viewers can find suitable programmes for kids. It's also adding its first vertical videos to the app, starting with highlights from the World Cup in 'Zappsport Live'. This is expected to help it reach more viewers on mobile devices and social media channels.

Bite Lithuania has acquired a block in the 2,100 MHz band during the auction carried out by the national telecommunications regulator RRT. The operator said it paid EUR 2 million for the spectrum resource. Around 80 percent of towers at Bite support this band.

Slovak mobile provider Radost, a subsidiary of O2 Slovakia, has refreshed its brand in cooperation with the brand studio Echts. According to the company, the brand retains its playfulness, but at the same time has acquired a more mature and clear appearance. Slovak Telekom plans to disconnect its 2G network by January 2029, reports Zive.sk citing Carlos Fernandes, the CTO at Slovak Telekom and T-Mobile Czechia. The released radio frequencies will be allocated to 5G services.

Brazil index shows connectivity improving in 83% of municipalities in 2025

The Brazilian Connectivity Index (IBC) rose from 52.4 to 55.3 points in 2025, with 82.8 percent of municipalities showing progress in internet access, according to market regulator Anatel.
