The BBC has announced the departure of Director of Comedy, Jon Petrie. He joined the BBC in 2021 and is leaving to take up the role of Creative Director at Hat Trick Productions. During his time as the BBC's Director of Comedy, Petrie set up the BBC Comedy Festival, now in its 5th year; and was responsible for a wide range of comedy shows such as Amandaland, Alma's Not Normal, Death Valley, Black Ops, Ludwig, Small Prophets and Ghosts.

Anthropic submits draft statement for IPO

Anthropic said it has confidentially submitted a draft registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering (IPO) of its common stock. This gives it the option to go public after the SEC completes its review. The proposed IPO would depend on market conditions and other factors, and the number of shares to be offered and the price have not yet been set, Anthropic said.

Argentina's telecommunications regulator Enacom has authorised SpaceX's Starlink to operate in additional frequency bands not yet allocated to fixed satellite services, enabling the company to expand its operations in the country. The approval covers several segments in the W band, including ranges between 92 GHz and 114.25 GHz for Earth-to-space transmissions via gateway earth stations.

Australian AI infrastructure company Firmus and subsea cable company Subco have announced plans to build a new submarine fibre optic cable connecting Tasmania to mainland Australia, marking what they say will be the first new subsea fibre connection for the state in more than 20 years.
