BBC Sport digital platforms see millions of users for World Cup

The BBC has seen the opening week of the 2026 FIFA World Cup drive millions of people to BBC Sport digital platforms and visualised podcasts. On Wednesday 17 June, when England played their first group match of the tournament, over 3 million users visited the BBC for live pages, video and analysis. This is the biggest day for BBC Sport since 14 July 2024, when England played Spain in the 2025 Euro final, and Alcaraz and Djokovic played in the Wimbledon final.

Dimension Data launches NGN 5 bln bond issue to support Nigerian expansion

Dimension Data SPV Funding has launched a NGN 5 billion corporate bond to support investment in Nigeria, Leadership reported. Managed by Pathway Advisors, the three-year bond is the first tranche of a wider NGN 20 billion infrastructure programme. TThis bond offers a coupon rate between 18.50 percent and 20.00 percent per annum, payable semi-annually, with the final rate to be fixed after the book-building finishes on 29 June.

Fastweb+Vodafone said its LV8 digital learning app reached 8,000 students across 74 high schools in eight Italian regions during the 2025/2026 edition of its "Missione Futuro" education programme, with more than 8,000 certificates awarded over 700 hours of activities. The initiative, developed with Next Level ETS, brings a gamified training platform into classrooms to build digital skills in accordance with the European DigComp 3.0 framework.

NetCologne increases revenues, investments in FY 2025

NetCologne said its revenues rose by 1.4 percent in 2025 to EUR 347.2 million, and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by 6.1 percent during the period to EUR 33.1 million. Orange names Usman Javaid as new chief AI officer

Orange has named Usman Javaid the group's Chief AI Officer from September. He will be responsible for accelerating and scaling up Orange's AI initiatives. Javaid succeeds Steve Jarrett, the former Facebook executive who helped lay the foundations of Orange's AI strategy over the past three years. Javaid will report to Bruno Zerbib, the group's Chief Technology & Innovation Officer.

France finds limited compliance with mandatory parental controls on smartphones

More work is needed to implement France's law on mandatory parental controls on smartphones, according to a first review by the regulator ANFR. Since July 2024, manufacturers are required to make available free parental controls on their devices and prompt the user to activate the controls when they first set up the device. The ANFR said it had completed the review of 11 products, and four did not conform with the law.

Proximus is updating its Sports package, after gaining access again to the Jupiler Pro League and other content in a licensing deal with Dazn. The new package costs EUR 24.99 per month, up from the current EUR 20.99, or customers can get the same content in the 'All-in' TV package for EUR 49.99. Until the end of July and the start of the new football season, customers can subscribe to Sports for the reduced price of EUR 14.99 per month.

India PC market jumps 32% in Q1 boosted by inventory front-loading, increased notebook demand

India's PC market (excluding tablets) expanded by 31.9 percent year-on-year in to 4.4 million units in the first quarter of 2026, according to a report from Omdia. Growth was mainly boosted by strong notebook demand. Notebook shipments reached 3.5 million units, up 44.8 percent, supported by increased consumer demand and large-scale government-driven education tenders, such as the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) project.
