Lounea to spend up to EUR 400 mln on new Finland Baltic Backbone Venture

Finnish fibre operator Lounea said it has established a company under the name Lounea Runkoverkot to carry out a its new Finland Baltic Backbone Venture (FBBV) nationwide network project. FBBV responds to rapidly rising data traffic and the increasing demand for capacity and route diversity. The first phase of FBBV is expected to take approximately two to three years. The total investment is estimated at EUR 200 million to EUR 400 million.

Telcom Group, UK B2B and rural fibre broadband operator, has reported revenue of GBP 27 million for the 12 months to 30 June 2025, up from GBP 17.1 million in FY 2024, boosted by an infrastructure-led expansion. Gross profit jumped to GBP 11.6 million, from GBP 6.7 million a year earlier; with EBITDA from continuing operations reaching a profit of GBP 2.2 million, compared to a loss of GBP 3.8 million in FY24.

MobilePay tap-to-pay becomes available from 21 banks in Denmark, Greenland and Faroe Islands

Payment service provider MobilePay said that customers of 21 banks in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands can now activate their bank cards as a tap-and-pay method using MobilePay. This enables them to use a Nordic mobile payment service instead of a US one to tap a shop's payment terminal. The system is available to both iPhone and Android telephone users and both Mastercard and Visa cards can be activated, depending on what the individual bank has chosen.
