Inwit installs multi-operator DAS network at Acea HQ

Italian mobile towers group Inwit said it has completed a project to enhance mobile connectivity at the Rome headquarters of utility company Acea, deploying a multi-operator distributed antenna system (DAS) across the site. The infrastructure spans about 40,000 square metres over 11 floors and is designed to provide seamless voice and data coverage for employees and partners across indoor and outdoor areas.

Ofcom says age checks improving but calls for stronger online child protections

Ofcom says age assurance measures introduced under the UK's Online Safety Act are making online services safer for children, but has warned that further action is needed from technology companies as the country prepares for tighter social media restrictions for under-16s. In a new report, the regulator said the proportion of children encountering highly effective age checks increased from 25 percent to 43 percent between July 2025 and January 2026.

Tele2 said it is "well on track" to reach its full-year guidance as it adds "solid" second quarter figures to its books. Revenue climbed by 2 percent year on year to SEK 7.39 billion from SEK 7.26 billion in Q2 2025. Underlying EBITDAaL was SEK 2.97 billion, up by 3.9 percent from SEK 2.96 billion, driven by a 2.4 percent increase in end-user service revenue growth to SEK 5.64 billion and by sharp cost control throughout Tele2's operations.

Airtel Africa has revived plans to spin off and publicly list its mobile money business, selecting London over the Middle East for an initial public offering (IPO), the Financial Times reported citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. Telekom Srbija has acquired the Gorazde-based cable and internet provider KG-1 through its Banja Luka subsidiary, Blicnet, as reported by Indikator.ba. Following the ownership change, KG-1 will soon rebrand as Supernova BiH, aligning with Telekom Srbija's regional cable television brand. Movistar (Telefonica) provided the fastest average 4G and 5G mobile speeds among Spain's leading operators in the first quarter, according to data from communications regulator CNMC corresponding to the first quarter of 2026. EllaLink and Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) have begun the marine installation of the Lum@link submarine cable. AST SpaceMobile has raised USD 1.0 billion for its mobile satellite platform in an issue of convertible debt notes. The private offering to institutional investors of the notes due 2034 resulted in an interest rate of 1.625 percent. Brazil has reached the halfway mark of its Connected North (Norte Conectado) programme, the world's largest underwater river cable internet initiative, reported Broadcast, part of the O Estado de Sao Paulo group. Funded by BRL 1.5 billion from the 2021 5G licence auction, the project has successfully laid 6,630 kilometres of fibre-optic cable.
