KBRO adopts Harmonic Fiber-on-Demand for broadband access network upgrade

Taiwanese operator KBRO has selected Harmonic to upgraded its broadband access network. KBRO has adopted Harmonic's fiber-on-demand service powered by the cOS virtualized broadband platform. The Harmonic PON is designed to compliment KBRO's DOCSIS high-split network modernization strategy by enabling demand-driven fiber expansion for multi-gigabit broadband service delivery across the operator's footprint.

Indian operator Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced plans to expand its 5G services to 90 additional cities by May this year. This expansion will increase the total coverage of Vi's 5G services from 43 to 133 cities.

Lifecell passes 100,000 customers for convergent Lifeset tariffs

Ukrainian operator Lifecell said that the number of subscribers for its fixed-mobile convergent tariff line Lifeset has exceeded 100,000. The line was launched in 2025, after the merger of Lifecell, Datagroup and Volia. Mobile, fixed broadband and pay-TV services are available under the line including four tariff options.

MTS Belarus reports 50% increase in VoLTE calls in 2025

MTS Belarus said that the number of VoLTE calls on its network grew by 50 percent in 2025. As a result the share of voice traffic generated on the LTE network reached 30 percent. The VoLTE user base grew by 7 percent in the same period, and customers made almost 3.5 billion calls on the LTE network of the operator.

Samsung takes lead in tablet sales at Megafon in Q1

Tablet sales in units grew by 72 percent in shops of Russian operator Megafon and its subsidiary Yota in the first quarter of this year, according to the company. Samsung took the lead among brands, overtaking Xiaomi. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 was the bestselling tablet, followed by the Xiaomi Redmi Pad 2 and Samsung Tab A11+.

Kazakhstan operator Kcell has refreshed its video service Mobi Kino with video content from Amediateka, HBO Max, Twigl and One FC. Customers could access already the online video services Plan B, Megogo, Start and Wink on the platform. Kcell has also expanded the lineup of TV channels available under the service to over 150.

Rostelecom automates customer service with new chatbot, database system

Russian national operator Rostelecom has implemented a solution for greater automation of customer service and internal processes, based on a chatbot called Omnibot and the database ProZnaniya (ProKnowledge). The operator claims that the new solution automate processing of up to 50 percent of queries to the customer support service. The solution processes up to 300,000 queries to text-based channels of the customer support daily and is also based on software developed in Russia.

JazzCash registers 1 millionth merchant on Raast QR payment system

Veon has announced that its Pakistani subsidiary JazzCash has registered its 1 millionth merchant on the Raast QR payment system. Raast is Pakistan's national digital payment infrastructure established by the State Bank of Pakistan in 2021 to allow financial institutions to process instant transactions. By using this system, merchants can accept digital payments through QR codes.

Beeline Russia offers compensation for service outages

Russian operator Beeline announced that customers connected to the subscription Bee can request a refund for services considered insufficient in quality. The offer is valid for customers who connect to its network in the period 26 March to 31 August. Compensation will be provided on a daily basis. The operator did not give a reason for the offer of compensation but it follows a period of frequent outages of mobile services in Moscow and St Petersburg, as well as other locations in Russia.

Brazil's Ministry of Communications is allocating BRL 104 million from the Fund for the Technological Development of Telecommunications (Funttel) to accelerate research, development, and innovation in advanced technologies such as 6G, AI, and cloud computing. Telekom Malaysia (TM) has obtained the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Artificial Intelligence Management System (AIMS) certification. The Malaysian operator also reports that this certification, achieved through its Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI COE) and independently validated by Sirim QAS International, indicates that TM's AI systems are developed and deployed with rigorous governance, ethical safeguards, and robust risk management.

KPN has refreshed its fixed broadband plans. All the prices are slightly more expensive, apart from the 1 Gbps service, which remains at EUR 52.50 per month for new customers. On FTTH, the plans start now at 200 Mbps, while 100 Mbps remains available for customers with DSL.

Kcell revenues up, EBITDA down in Q4

Revenues of Kazakhstan mobile operator Kcell totaled KZT 69.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, up by 13.39 percent year-on-year. Services revenues declined by 2.28 percent to KZT 48.4 billion, and EBITDA dropped by 19.95 percent to KZT 23.054 billion. Over the full year, the figures were higher, with service revenues up 6.84 percent to KZT 212.5 billion, and EBITDA growing 15.66 percent to KZT 106.6 billion.
