Potraz and Internet Society train Zimbabweans with disabilities in digital skills

The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (Potraz), in partnership with the Internet Society - Zimbabwe Chapter, completed a basic ICT skills training programme. The joint initiative focuses on empowering persons with disabilities through digital literacy and technology education to drive national digital inclusion. The training took place in Lupane, gathering 35 participants with disabilities from the Lupane, Dete, and Binga districts.

Anatel unifies fixed-line local areas across Sao Paulo

Brazilian regulator Anatel has completed the unification of fixed-line local areas across the state of Sao Paulo. This change means that all municipalities within the same DDD (national dialling codes 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19) will now be considered a single local calling area, eliminating tariff distinctions based on municipal boundaries. This adjustment brings fixed telephony in line with the existing mobile telephony model.

The Dutch government could save around EUR 23 million per year by unifying its contracts for domain names, according to a brief from the interior ministry sent to parliament. The analysis looked at websites running the .gov.nl and .overheid.nl web extensions used for public websites and emails. Consolidating contracts and websites could reduce the total cost of managing the extensions to around EUR 24 million, compared to the current budget of EUR 50 million.
