Immfly has announced the upcoming launch of an in-flight satellite broadband system tailored to budget airline operators. The product is designed for speedy installations in existing narrowbody aircraft in around 24-30 hours, limiting capex overheads. It combines a next-generation, electronically steered antenna from in-flight connectivity vendor GoGo with Immfly's modular server platform Equilux Aero, connecting to the internet via Eutelsat's OneWeb LEO constellation.

Rostelecom joint venture Restream Media acquires LifeStream

Russian national operator Rostelecom said that its joint venture Restream Media has completed the acquisition of100 percent of the company LifeStream, which owns the Smotryoshka video service. The value of the deal has not been specified. Smotryoshka is a leader in the Russian IPTV/OTT market's B2B segment. Its application offers more than 430 television channels and several online video services.

Rostelecom adds 170,000 fixed broadband subscribers in Moscow in 2025

Russian national operator Rostelecom said that the subscriber base for its fixed broadband services increased by more than 170,000 in the city and region of Moscow in 2025. The most significant rises were registered in the cities of Balashikha, Podolsk and Lyubertsy in the Moscow region.

Beeline Russia offers automated passenger aircraft ground handling system

Russian operator Beeline has announced that its unit Beeline Big Data &AI has developed a service to provide automated ground handling for passenger aircraft. The system is based on computer vision and monitors the cycle in real time, from aeroplane reception to towing and pre-flight preparation, recognising various types of airfield equipment and personnel actions. A new AI model minimises the effect of  human error.

Tet training subsidiary BDA reports record EBITDA in 2025

Revenues at Latvian ICT training company Baltijas Datoru Akademija (BDA), a subsidiary of the operator Tet, reached EUR 2.35 million in 2025. EBITDA at BDA was EUR 500,000, its highest profit in 31 years. The successful results followed the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and a data-driven approach.

Brazil considers removal of payphones

Only 38,000 payphones still remain in Brazil, but telecom companies are no longer obligated to maintain them since their concessions ended in December 2025, transitioning to an authorisation regime. Telecom regulator Anatel is now considering requiring providers to submit plans for removing these non-mandatory payphones. Users can also request their removal directly from service providers, escalating to Anatel if the request is not fulfilled.

Meta allocates USD 2 mln in grant funding for new AI Glasses Impact initiative

Meta has revealed it will award almost USD 2 million to 30 organisations as part of a new accelerator programme that supports enterprise developers building on its Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses range. The AI Glasses Impact Grants programme will initially issue fifteen USD 25,000 Accelerator Grants and ten USD 50,000 awards to US entities making use of Meta's AI glasses to scale business impact. Recipients will be selected for one of the two awards depending on the size of their application.

Golden eSim offers auto club members 10% discount

Golden eSIM has started offering members of the automobile association ANWB in the Netherlands a 10 percent discount on its eSims. CEO Marcel Timmerhuis announced the plans on LinkedIn. The MVNO launched in early 2025 with an offer data roaming Sims for travel outside the EU. The ANWB counts more than 5 million members.

Almost two-thirds of Dutch support social media ban for under-16s

Almost two-thirds of people in the Netherlands (63%) support a ban on social media services for children younger than 16 according to a survey by Newcom. Its research shows support growing across nearly all age groups, and especially among Gen Z, the first to grow up with such platforms.

Latvian operator Tet said that it has received the EcoVadis 'Commitment Badge' corporate sustainability rating, reflecting the company's achievements in the field of sustainability. Tet's first sustainability performance rating corresponds to the 'Good' grade. In addition, the company ranks among the top 25 percent of companies in the telecoms industry in the areas of labour and human rights, as assessed by EcoVadis criteria.

Poland exceeds 4 mln connected Samsung smart TVs in 2025, up by 600,000 in 2 years

Samsung Electronics Poland said that the number of smart TVs connected to the internet at the end of 2025 reached 4.1 million, up by more than 600,000 from over 3.5 million in December 2023. In December 2025, Samsung TV sets are used for an average of six hours daily, the company added.

T-Mobile Poland offers bonus 3 GB roaming packs via Magenta Moments until 29 January

T-Mobile Poland has introduced to customers an opportunity to get bonus data roaming packages for use in the EU using its loyalty programme Magenta Moments. A monthly 3 GB data bundle is available in this way. The bonus package can also be used Albania, Montenegro and North Macedonia. The promotion is valid for subscribers of certain postpaid, prepaid and mix tariffs until 29 January.

UK regulator Ofcom has opened an investigation into Meta, parent company of WhatsApp, over concerns about compliance with statutory information requests about WhatsApp Business services. Net Insight projects near 13% sales decline in Q4 amid sluggish returns from media unit

Net Insight said in a preliminary earnings bulletin that it now expects Q4 net turnover of about SEK 117 million (USD 12.95 million).
