3 UK has activated its 5G service and is now offering high-speed 5G Broadband in London. Customers can get a single 5G home broadband plan for GBP 35 per month with unlimited data in the home.
3 UK believes it can shake up the home broadband market by encouraging customers to customers to cancel their landline and access fibre-like, ultrafast speeds using the mobile broadband service. The 5G Broadband tariff is offered with a 12-month contract, and 5G plug & play hub with same-day delivery for GBP 20 and next-day delivery for free.
To promote the launch of 5G Broadband, 3 UK has created the 'Living Room of the Future' immersive mixed reality experience at its flagship London store on Oxford Street. This used Magic Leap augmented reality technology powered by 5G.
Ben Wood, Chief of Research at CCS Insight, said that 3 UK was in pole position for 5G potential due to the large amount of spectrum it holds. However, he warned that it would have to work hard to differentiate its offer after Vodafone launched unlimited 5G and home broadband bundles.
