Mobile phone handset sales are expected to reach 470 million units in 2003, with growth of 5-10% forecast for 2004, according to Siemens. This compares to 2003 sales of 460 million units forecast by various consultancies. Siemens Mobile sold 39.1 million mobile phones in the 2003 fiscal year, up from 33.3 million a year earlier on demand for new products. LG has sold 18.5 million mobile phones worldwide in the first nine months of 2003 and expects full-year sales to reach over 26 million units, or 5.5% market share.
