5G to account for 1.3 bln of 10 bln mobile connections in 2023

Global mobile connections will reach 10 billion by 2023, with 5G technology accounting for 1.3 billion of the total, according to a study by Ovum for industry association 5G Americas. The report forecasts that North America will take an early lead in 5G deployments with all four national service providers anticipating commercial launches in 2018 or 2019. Ovum predicts 336,000 5G connections in North America by the end of 2019, representing 47 percent of the worldwide total.
