Austrian operator A1 has entered the smart home segment with two starter packages and 11 devices. The service portfolio is being introduced after the initial testing among 50 employees.
In July, A1 commissioned Marketmind with conducting a representative study in Austria, based on which 76 percent of Austrians have already heard the term smart home, four in ten find smart home technologies sympathetic to very sympathetic. Just over half (51%) of respondents stated that smart home is the future of living. For those who use smart home already or are interested in using it, consider the following aspects as important: support with installation (73 percent) and availability for inquiries (81 percent). Data storage in Austria is important for 62 percent.
With an integrated Sim card and a battery, A1 Smart Home works also in case of power or internet outage. It works on an internet connection from any provider.
The operator offers two starter packages: Security and Comfort. The package Security includes the A1 Smart Home Gateway, an indoor camera, a multi-sensor (for brightness, temperature and motion) as well as a door or window sensor. The package Comfort also includes the A1 Smart Home Gateway and a multi-sensor, plus a smart socket and a thermostat.
For the starter packages, customers can choose from 11 smart devices, for example, a humidity sensor or a smoke alarm. The starter packages now costs EUR 140 (the first 2,000 pieces). It will go up in price after to EUR 200.
A1 offers three Smart Home tariffs. All tariffs include usage of the A1 Smart Home App. After connection of all Smart Home sensors with the application, the application learns the behaviour of the users. Video recordings of the indoor camera are also included. In the lowest tariff A1 Smart Home S, the videos are recorded for 24 hours and in the full-service tariff, including the backup and security switch, A1 Smart Home L offers 30 days.
