A1 Hrvatska launches home internet service via 5G network

A1 Hrvatska has become the first operator in Croatia to offer a home internet service via the 5G mobile network.

Back in 2006, A1 Hrvatska was the first to introduce the Homebox service, offering home internet via the 3G network. The service has been upgraded several times with new network capabilities and devices.

The premium 5G service consists of an Askey outdoor unit and a Fritzbox 7530 modem, along with the 5G internet tariff. The basic service comes with an indoor unit and is an upgrade on the previous Homebox service.

The new 5G internet tariff ensures 1 TB of traffic per month and speeds of up to 200 Mbps, while the 5G Homebox tariff includes 500 GB of data traffic at the maximum available speed of up to 200 Mbps.

Fixed access via the 5G network is also available for all business users with 5G Officebox (Pro) and 5G Internet BIZ (Pro) services.

Croatian operator A1 Hrvatska has made available its 5G network for free to both prepaid and postpaid users. After introducing 5G at the most popular summer destinations in 2021, this year it has been expanded to Medulin, Novalja, Krk, Opatija, Crikvenica, Fazana, Barbariga, Brijuni, Malinska, Jelsa, Vir, Orebic, Supetar, Postire, Bol, Tisno , Murter, Nin, Korcula and Hvar.

HT report says Croatian economy to gain HRK 10 billion from 5G

The introduction of 5G in Croatia will bring over HRK 10 billion (EUR 1.33 billion) in new value to the economy in the next few years, and the positive effects should be felt by all industries and regions, especially the less developed ones. The annual net benefit from investing in 5G is estimated at 1.72 percent of GDP, according to a study by the Institute of Economics and Hrvatski Telekom.

A1 Hrvatska invests HRK 11 million in first Tier III data centre in Croatia

Croatian operator A1 Hrvatska invested HRK 11 million in the construction of the country's first data centre meeting Tier III criteria from the UpTime Institute. The data centre extends over an area of 2,122 square meters and is able to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 9 on the Richter scale. It is equipped with its own substation which is powered by two independent power branches with a maximum capacity of 2 MW.

A1 Hrvatska will deploy Nokia and Ericsson equipment for its 5G roll-out in Croatia, operations director of A1 Telekom Austria Group Alejandro Plater told Poslovni Dnevnik. He added that the operator has so far invested EUR 14.1 million in acquiring 5G frequencies in Croatia.
