ABN Amro tests m-payments with biometric identification
MasterCard and International Card Services announced the start of a test of biometric payments in the Netherlands. Around 750 holders of ABN Amro credit cards will participate in the trial running until the end of November. When making a purchase online, they receive a pop-up on their smartphones. The app then uses facial recognition or fingerprint authentication to confirm the payment. Customers will no longer need to enter passwords, PIN codes or other security confirmation to complete the transaction. ABN Amro customers with a MasterCard can download the Identity Check App from the Apple Store (iOS) or Google Play. After registering on the associated website, they will receive a unique code over email in order to activate the app for online payments.
