Actually there is a much more convenient service with the same network, although it covers "only" 33 EU countries: www.europasim.com You pay 6 € per day (150 MB incl.) which means 4 cent/MB (12 times cheaper than abroadband. Furthermore, you pay 2 € per day in Italy, with 500 MB included. And it is prepaid, therefore there is no risk of an higher than expected bill.

This is a GREAT service. U.S. carriers charge $15 to $20/mb to roam overseas - 18 to 25 times as much!! What will help is to get an easy to use voice app that will enable us to make low cost voice calls via data connections. Right now we pay $1/min if we roam with our home SIM. This would cut the price by much more than half.
