Acer names TSMC VP Jason Chen as CEO
Acer has appointed Jason Chen as its corporate president and CEO from January. Chen is currently the senior VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). Before that, he worked at Intel for 14 years. The resolution was approved by Acer's board of directors today. With Chen on board, Stan Shih will continue to serve as Acer chairman and chairman of the Transformation Committee. He will also become a member of the committee and work together to review the change initiatives, and enhance communication and processes between the board and the management team.

Acer has unveiled a number of new products, at an event in New York. These include the 2-in-1 Aspire Switch 10 notebook, which also works as a tablet, and the Acer Iconia One 7 tablet. Acer posts annual loss after new asset writedown

Acer reported a net loss of TWD 7.63 billion (USD 274.4 million) for the fourth quarter, after writing off TWD 1.3 billion in raw materials inventory and other costs. Acer CEO resigns, co-founder to take over
