Acer postpones launch of tablet PC, smartphone - report
Acer will defer the launch of its Android 3.0 tablet PC to August or September, from the originally scheduled launch date of May or June. The decision is due to compatibility issues between Android 3.0 and the 7-inch screen Acer uses, The Digitimes reports citing industry sources. Since Android 3.0 was specifically designed for 10-inch displays, Acer has found that many applications are incompatible with its 7-inch device. The company has therefore decided to postpone the launch of the Iconia A100. Acer will also defer the launch of its 5-inch smartphone, Iconia Smart, from May to July over a shortage in the supply of key components following the earthquake in Japan.
