Actual Dutch download speed grows to more than 14 Mbps in Q3
The average actual download speed in the Netherlands has grown from 10.2 Mbps in the first quarter of of this year to 14.2 Mbps in the third quarter, according to Telecompaper's Dutch Broadband Speeds Q3 2010 report. At the same time the average offered download speed improved from 16.2 Mbps to 24.5 Mbps. As a result, the average actual/offered ratio of Dutch broadband connections decreased from 63 percent in the first quarter of 2010 to 58 percent in the third quarter of this year. The majority of the Dutch broadband users (88%) had a DSL, cable or FTTH connection with an offered download speed of 6 Mbps or more in the third quarter of 2010, growing from 75 percent during the first quarter of this year. The report also found that fibre offers the highest average actual speed with 40.8 Mbps, followed by Ziggo and UPC. Of all providers (excluding fibre), Ziggo offers the best actual/offered ratio for the 0-3 Mbps, 3-6 Mbps, 12-24 Mbps and 24-48 Mbps segment and UPC offers the best actual/offered ratio for the 48-60 Mbps and 60Mbps+ segment. KPN's brand Telfort offers the best ratio in the 6-12 Mbps segment.
