ADSL2+ introduction will lead to EUR 85 mln revenue loss

In 2005 broadband network operators and providers are busy with rolling out ADSL 2+ networks, to support new products and services such as television and video on demand. But interest in ADSL2+ subscriptions can only be aroused with new services added to the existing subscriptions, or with lower prices. With the current set of service and price levels, the Dutch consumer is not interested in high broadband speeds; in Q1-2005, 90 percent of the net DSL additions chose low speed broadband. However, the introduction of ADSL2+ will intensify competition and Telecompaper expects it to lead to a negative effect on existing broadband access revenue of EUR 85 million per year.
