Aircel, Tata scrap 3G roaming deal - report

Indian operators Aircel and Tata Teleservices have scrapped their roaming agreement as the Department of Telecom (DoT) threatens to take action against 3G operators for illegal roaming arrangements. DoT argues the roaming deals amount to spectrum sharing, which is not allowed under the 3G licences. The arrangement between Aircel and Tata has been operational for 40-50 days on a pilot basis. The companies have now ended the deal after the government declared the agreements illegal, the Business Line writes citing an unnamed industry source.
