Airtel Africa lists in Nigeria

Airtel Africa has completed its listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, in a flotation that valued the mobile operator at NGN 1.36 trillion. This makes the bourse’s third-largest stock by market capitalization, Reuters reported.  

Airtel offered shares in its African unit two weeks ago via a London IPO and said it would dual list in Nigeria, its biggest market in Africa. It listed the shares at NGN 363 each in Lagos.

Airtel Africa completes capital reduction to support dividend policy

The goal of the cancellation was to create distributable reserves to support the company's dividend policy. Airtel, with a presence in fourteen African countries, said the number of its ordinary shares in issue has not changed, nor has their nominal value. As such, following the capital reduction, Airtel has 3.76 billion shares in issue with one vote and 3.08 billion non-voting deferred shares.

Airtel Africa announced that it has crossed the 100 million customers mark, up from 99.7 million reported at the end of June. Airtel Africa is the second largest mobile operator in Africa by number of active subscribers.

Airtel Africa revenue increases 7% to USD 796 mln in Q1

Airtel Africa said its revenue increased by 6.9 percent to USD 795.9 million in the first quarter ended 30 June compared to USD 744.5 million in the same period in 2018. Constant currency growth reached 10.2 percent, the sixth consecutive quarter of double-digit constant currency growth. This was driven by double-digit growth in Nigeria and East Africa, partially offset by a decline in revenue in Rest of Africa.

Airtel Nigeria has announced the introduction of two affordable 4G smartphones, the Airtel Diva at NGN 20,000 and Airtel Top Notch at NGN 23,000. Customers who purchase one can benefit from the Airtel Double Data offer, which provides a 100 percent bonus data on every bundle from NGN 500 and above. After buying the Airtel Diva or Airtel Top Notch, they should insert their Airtel SIM card and text the keyword, 'get' to shortcode '141'.

Airtel Africa share price falls after listing

Airtel Africa has fallen below its initial listing price in its first week of trading. The IPO was priced at GBP 0.80 per share, the bottom of the indicated price range. The stock opened on 28 June at below 68 pence and is since trading at around 71 pence.

Airtel Africa sets price range for IPO in London

Airtel Africa has set a price range of GBP 0.80 to GBP 1.00 per share for its initial public offering (IPO) on the London Stock Exchange. Airtel said this implies a market capitalisation of GBP 3.01 billion to GBP 3.62 billion, excluding an over-allotment option. It said the IPO will see the company float 595.2 million to 744.0 million new shares, raising a total of GBP 595 million, including the over-allotment option.
