Bharti Airtel announced that it has ended an agreement to sell its towers in Tanzania and Chad to Helios Towers Africa. The deal was first announced in July 2014. According to a statement from Airtel to the Bombay stock exchange, the agreement with Helios lapsed and was therefore terminated. Further details were not provided.
Helios said in a statement on its website that it "places great value on its business partnership with Airtel and will continue to work with them in Tanzania and elsewhere, including Congo Brazzaville where HTA recently closed a similar transaction with Airtel". Under the original agreement announced last July, Airtel said it would sell around 3,100 towers in four countries to Helios.
