AIS to launch 5G Fixed Wireless Access service for businesses
Thai operator AIS has announced it is ready to launch the first 5G service for the business sector with commercial 5G Fixed Wireless Access (AIS 5G FWA). The 5G Fixed Wireless Access is designed to enhance Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) speeds. The AIS 5G FWA equipment receives and sends signals from the 5G base station to the base site, and is available for use immediately without cable deployment, AIS said.

Customers will be able to use the AIS 5G FWA anywhere with 5G signal. This feature targets organizations that need to use the internet off-site. AIS also says its 5G FWA equipment can be installed in 10 minutes and is ready for immediate use. The 5G FWA Broadband service connects the 5G CPE devices via the AIS 5G network.

The 5G FWA Corporate Internet service connects 5G CPE devices via the AIS 5G network. It provides guaranteed bandwidth and signals quality with separation for corporate customers and provides data security with after-sale services, the company added. 

AIS also offers services to enhance the use of 5G FWA, including 5G FWA SD-WAN and 5G FWA WIFI. Interested organizations can apply for the service at the AIS website, or contact the AIS Corporate Call Center or the corporate customer care team that provides the usual service.

Alaska Communications secures spectrum in support of fixed wireless broadband deployment

Alaska Communications secured spectrum through the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) auction for licences in the shared Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band. The CBRS spectrum is used in fixed wireless applications. CBRS spectrum works well in areas where customers are geographically spread out and with lower population densities, which is found throughout many Alaska communities. Due to the high speed associated with this spectrum, it's a preferred spectrum for fixed wireless.
