Akamai appoints co-founder Leighton as CEO
Akamai Technologies' board has elected company co-founder and chief scientist Tom Leighton to become CEO of Akamai effective 1 January 2013. He will succeed Paul Sagan who announced earlier this year that he intended to step down as chief executive by the end of 2013. Leighton and Sagan will remain Akamai directors, and Sagan will become a senior advisor to the company, working with Leighton on business strategy and to ensure a smooth management transition.

Akamai Technologies grows Q3 revenues 23%

Akamai Technologies reported third-quarter revenues up 23 percent from a year earlier to USD 345 million. Adjusted EBITDA was up 28 percent to USD 157 million, and net profit rose to USD 48 million or 27 cents a share, a 14 percent increase from third quarter 2011. After operating cash flow of USD 141 million in the quarter, Akamai finished the period with over USD 1 billion in cash.
