Alcatel, Aycell sign GSM1800/GPRS solution deal
Aycell, Turk Telekom's mobile subsidiary, has selected Alcatel to expand the capacity of its existing national GSM1800 MHz network. The three-year frame contract, worth EUR 160 million, will allow Aycell to offer enhanced mobile voice and data services. The contract involves the global project management from network planning and design to implementation, including installation and integration of the GSM 1800MHz network, site acquisition and construction as well as network testing and commissioning on a turnkey basis. Alcatel will supply its Evolium solution, including the radio access network (base stations and base station controllers) and GPRS. Additionally, Alcatel will provide its low/medium capacity point-to-point microwave radio systems for short-haul applications. Based on Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy technology, these systems are designed for seamless integration into any urban environment.
