Altice sells Swiss data centre business Green.ch

Altice has agreed to sell its telecom and data centre operations in Switzerland, Green.ch and Green Datacenter, to InfraVia Capital Partners. The sale gives the activities an enterprise value of CHF 214 million, equal to 9.9x adjusted EBITDA. 

Green.ch provides private and business customers with internet connections, hosted, cloud and multimedia services and data backup. Green Datacenter provides data centre services for medium-sized and large companies in Switzerland, Europe and throughout the world. 

This is the first divestment by Altice since it said earlier this month that it would sell non-core assets in order to reduce its debt.

Google develops cloud services in Switzerland, focuses on banks

Google is developing its cloud services in Switzerland, reports Inside-IT.ch. From the beginning of 2019, business customers will be able to store their data in a data centre in Zurich, presumably Green's new data centre in Lupfig. Google is focusing primarily on Swiss banks, as Urs Horzle, Senior Vice President Technical Infrastructure at Google said in an interview with Handelszeitung. Swiss banks are the main reason for starting a cloud region in Switzerland.

Swiss provider green.ch has introduced a new tariff model that gives both residential and SOHO customers a flexible choice of additional services with their internet service and of internet speed, both on the fibre-optic and copper networks. Credit rating agency Standard & Poor's has revised its outlook for Altice from stable to negative, while affirming the 'B+' long-term credit rating for the group. The decision was motivated by Altice's deteriorating growth prospects, as the company lowered its EBITDA guidance for 2017, primarily as a result of a weaker-than-expected performance in France. In this country, S&P now expects lower EBITDA growth in 2018, noting that Altice's differentiation strategy has yet to prove its effectiveness.

Altice planning to sell Dominican Republic unit - report

Altice is looking to sell its recently-merged telecommunications unit in the Dominican Republic, according to unnamed sources cited by the Financial Times.
