Amazon CEO buys Washington Post
Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon.com, has agreed to buy The Washington Post, one of America's leading national newspapers. He is making the purchase as an individual, not as part of Amazon's business. The takeover for USD 250 million includes all of the Post's newspaper publishing business.

"Jeff Bezos’ proven technology and business genius, his long-term approach and his personal decency make him a uniquely good new owner for the Post," said Donald E. Graham, CEO of The Washington Post Company. Bezos said the paper will "not change values" and the current editorial team will remain in place.

Other titles in the acquisition incldue the Express newspaper, The Gazette Newspapers, Southern Maryland Newspapers, Fairfax County Times, El Tiempo Latino and Greater Washington Publishing. Slate magazine, TheRoot.com and Foreign Policy are not part of the transaction and will remain with The Washington Post Company.

The Washington Post Company, which also owns Kaplan, Post–Newsweek Stations and Cable One, will be changing its name in connection with the transaction.
