Amazon Germany offers Eurosport Player for Bundesliga coverage

Amazon Germany has added coverage of Germany's top football league to its Prime Video offer with a deal to carry the Eurosport Player for EUR 4.99 per month. Eurosport holds the rights to a selection of Bundesliga matches and has developed an OTT offer to deliver the games. Subscribers to Amazon Prime Video in Germany and Austria can subscribe to the Eurosport Player with coverage of 45 Bundesliga matches from 16 August, with no contractual obligation. 

In addition to the Bundesliga, the Eurosport Player offers premium sports such as Grand Slam tennis, MotoGP and the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang in 2018. The service will be available over the Amazon Prime app. 

Eurosport has also agreed distribution deals with satellite platform HD+ and Sky. On its own, the Eurosport Player costs EUR 4.99 per month on a 12-month contract, EUR 6.99 for no contract or EUR 59.99 per year.

Sky Deutschland to offer summaries of Eurosport Bundesliga matches

Sky Deutschland announced it will offer a ''Bundesliga Compact' show to provide highlights of the football matches for which it does not have broadcast rights. The matches on Fridays, Sundays and Mondays will be shown on Eurosport, but Sky subscribers will 12-minute summaries with the highlights within a half hour of the games' end.

Sky starts advertising campaign for Bundesliga coverage

Sky Deutschland announced the launch a major marketing campaign ahead of the start of the new Bundesliga season, which starts on the pay-TV provider 19 August. With the tagline 'big moments must be seen live', the campaign will run on TV, print, outdoor, online and radio channels, with some regional variation to highlight local teams. Seven Bundesliga players will feature in the ads, including Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller.

German satellite TV platform HD+ announced a new deal with Discovery Networks to offer its customers premium sports coverage over Eurosport. This will give customers access to the top football league, the Bundesliga, for which Eurosport holds the rights.

Amazon Germany starts live audio streams of Bundesliga games

Amazon Germany announced the start of audio coverage of Germany's top football league. All the matches from the Bundesliga first and second divisions will be able live with audio commentary for subscribers of Amazon Music and Prime, at no extra cost. Amazon has acquired the audio rights for the next three seasons. In addition to ad-free live coverage of the matches, it will offer 15-minute pre- and post-game analysis and a special Bundesliga programme on Saturdays.

Discovery adds new Eurosport channel for Bundesliga coverage

Discovery Communications has applied for German licences for its Eurosport channels, ahead of the start of its coverage of the Bundesliga. Eurosport1 and Eurosport2 were previously registered to its French subsidiary, with licences from the French media authority CSA. According to a statement from the Bavarian media regulator, the German channels, along with the new broadcaster Eurosport2xtra, have been moved to the company Discovery Communications Deutschland.
