Amazon has introduced the Amazon Cloud Cam, an intelligent indoor security camera that works with Alexa and is priced at USD 119.99. The cam is available for under USD 100 via a two-pack deal for USD 199.99 or a three-pack deal for USD 289.99. There is also a bundle of Echo Show plus Cloud Cam for USD 299.98.The device is now available for pre-order and will start shipping to US customers on 8 November.
Features
The Cloud Cam features 1080p Full HD resolution video, night vision, two-way audio, 24/7 livestream and advanced computer vision algorithms that can detect motion and "get smarter". With Alexa, users can view the cam’s livestream from their Echo Show, Echo Spot, Amazon Fire TV or Fire tablet. The cam is designed to fit in any part of the house, freestanding or mounted.
Amazon Key
The cam also works with Amazon Key, a new service exclusively for Prime members that enables unattended in-home delivery and secure home access for guests and service appointments. With the Key, users can track each delivery with notifications, watch the entry live or view a recorded video after delivery is complete. They can also get notifications when guests unlock the door. The Amazon Key In-Home Kit comes with a Cloud Cam (Key Edition) and a compatible smart lock.
Intelligent alerts
When Cloud Cam detects motion, users will get customisable notifications on their Cloud Cam App. When activity is detected, the cam will send a mobile notification and store the clip securely to view. With intelligence from the AWS cloud, over time, users will get more advanced detection, alerts, and other new features as they become available in the service and on the camera itself, such as advanced audio alerts or pet detection, without having to purchase a new device.
Two-way audio
Cloud Cam also features two-way audio via the app and the device’s built-in microphone. The two-way audio also works on Echo Show or Echo Spot. Cloud Cam’s night vision automatically activates when needed and features eight infrared LEDs for clear vision, even in the dark.
Subscriptions
Cloud Cam comes with access to the last 24 hours of clips stored securely in the AWS cloud and support for up to three cameras. With a subscription, the system can support up to 10 cameras, with additional storage for video, and with unlimited downloads and shares of video clips. Each subscription also offers Person Detection, which flags human activity instead of general motion (like a pet walking), and Zones, which lets users indicate certain areas of their home with motion they want ignored (like a ceiling fan).
Customers can try any subscription free for 30 days. Basic (USD 6.99 per month, USD 69 per year) offers access to the last 7 days of motion detection clips for up to 3 cameras. Extended (USD 9.99, USD 99) offers access to the last 14 days of motion detection clips for up to 5 cameras whilePro (USD 19.99, USD 199) offers access to the last 30 days of motion detection clips for up to 10 cameras.
