
Operating profit reached MXN 35.2 billion, down 17.5 percent from a year earlier, and the net result moved to a loss of MXN 2.1 billion versus a profit of MXN 17.2 billion as financing costs and forex losses increased and the company became a net taxpayer. Net debt increased by MXN 61.3 billion compared to the end of 2014, mainly due to reclassifying the KPN investment as an asset for sale. Net debt equaled 1.8 times EBITDA at the end of September. In the first nine months of the year, the company funded capital expenditures totaling MXN 105.7 billion.
America Movil ended September with 368.2 million access lines, 1 percent more than a year before. This includes 288.4 million mobile subscribers, down 0.1 percent from June and up 0.5 percent year-on-year. The operator continued to grow its postpaid base, up 5.1 percent year-on-year to 61.5 million subscribers. Postpaid net additions reached 836,000 in the quarter (up 17.9% annually), of which 344,000 came from Mexico and 181,000 from Brazil. Chile was the fastest growing operation in total mobile subscribers, up 2.5 percent, while Brazil lost 1.1 percent of its mobile customers compared to June.
The operator also counted 34.9 million landlines, 23.4 million broadband connections and 21.6 million pay-TV subscribers at the end of September, an increase of 945,000 revenue-generating units in the three months. The fixed broadband base increased 5.4 percent over the year earlier, and the number of fixed lines rose by 2.4 percent. Pay-TV customers rose 1.0 percent in annual terms after adding 92,000 new subscribers in the period.
